The rural setting is marvelously attractive, andmany artists of note have built summer studios here and in theenvironment of Arkville. There are churches, stores, water-works, a weekly newspaper, a fairground and race-track, andseveral hotels. Stages connect with leading trains at Arkvillefor Andes, twelve miles, Shavertown fifteen, and Downsvilletwentv-six miles away. Furlough Lake, the mountain home ofGeorge J.
