A 1st century AD Roman thermal building from the time of Emperor Domiziano, the Laconicum or hot dry sweating room of the Bagni di Nerone or Baths of Nero in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy.

Pisa, Tuscany, Italy: laconicum or hot dry sweating room of the Bagni di Nerone, an excavated baths complex by the Porta a Lucca or Lucca gateway. The baths are the only Roman monument preserved in Pisa and, despite their name, Nero had nothing to do with them. In the Middle Ages, the baths were erroneously called the Terme di Nerone (Spa of Nero). The laconium has a square external structure and octagonal structure inside. It retains four perimeter walls in brick. The population went to the Roman baths almost every day for hygienic reasons.
