View SW of the Bole Stone or Hole Stone (Crows/Crouse Standing Stone) Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, UK: the hole was formed by grinding two opposite bowl-shaped depressions (maximum diameter on NE side inches x 9 inches deep) & a 4-inch-long connecting channel. Until around 1857 a second stone stood some 15 yards to the E. The surviving stone has a plethora of names including the iBridal Stone, both stones were connected with marriage ceremonies, perhaps engagement by handfasting. The stone is just over tall.
