Melissa Ben-Ishay, the Melissa of "Baked by Melissa" cupcakes serves free mini-cupcakes to supporters on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the closing of her original location in Soho in New York. The tiny hole-in-the-wall was opened in 2009 and since then the local chain has expanded to thirteen locations. When Ms. Ben-Ishay signed her lease she was told the building would be sold in a few months and that day has finally come to pass, albeit five years later, as the two story taxpayer is going to come down for a new development.
