Bbickyard. As stated in my former report, land has been bought whichfurnishes both clay and sand for brick-making. There is prob-ably a superabundance of clay for tunnel purposes, but thesand is in limited quantity. The clay proves to be of most excellent quality, and thefreshly moulded brick have endured both heavy showers andsevere frosts excellently well. At considerable expense, because of the roughness of theground, a brickyard has been graded near the West End. Itis 300 feet long and 120 feet wide, including the kiln shed. Itis furnished with four mixing and moulding machines, madeby Mr. George F. Blake of Boston, which are driven by a 20-horse engine. The machines were set up and operated
