The village, built by the Sicilian Colonization of the Latifondo on behalf of the fascist government , on December 16, 1940 and completed in May 1941, took its name from the Catania-based Pietro Lupo , gold medal for military valor. In April 2003 a project for the recovery of the village from a touristic point of view was presented, but the following year a query highlighted how the village remained in a state of neglect. Today it hosts a population of about 15 inhabitants, while the rest of the country is uninhabited and the houses completely abandoned.
