Frutillar is beautifully situated on the western shoreline of lake Llanquihue, a few miles north of Puerto Varas, in the Chilean Lake District. The rainy temperate climate with rainfall throughout the year gives rise to a 'green and pleasant land' reminiscent of the English countryside. The climate and soils are well suited to fruit-growing, particularly apples and strawberries. German cakes, pastries and beers are local delicacies. Green fields, dandelions, brambles, blackberries and colourful garden plants are also a feature of the landscape.
