Amalienborg Slotsplads is a square surrounded by the 4 palaces of Amalienborg, home to the Danish royal family since 1794, when their former residence, Christiansborg, burnt down. Frederik V built the Louis XV inspired model town of Frederikstad, styled on Paris's Place de la Concorde. The Livgarden (Life Guards) perform a changing of the guard each day at noon.
