A 1780 plan of Lundy Castle on the UK island of Lundy in the Bristol Channel. It forms part of the County of Devon and the district of Torridge. It is about 3 miles long and just over half a mile wide. King Henry III built the castle, often known as the Marisco Castle. The island has been home to pirates and monks and is said to have once been given to the Knights Templars, though there is doubt whether they ever set foot on the island. In the English Civil War, Thomas Bushell took Lundy for King Charles I. The island has had a number of owners including 'King' Martin Coles Harman.
