Monolith of intrusive igneous rock --1200 foot high Wolf Rock in the western Oregon Cascades, USA


standing more than 1200' above the surrounding landscape, Wolf Rock is more resistant to erosion than the surrounding rock. It is made of a mafic intrusive igneous rock called norite, a type of gabbro.
