The specimens wcie all found at or near the coast, never in the endemic forests of the mountains. Fifteen examples seen, including a $ from Eound Island, received by the British Museum in 1870. The very fine close puncturing of the upper surface, the long third antennal joint, the form of the mandibles, and the generally robust body, distin^iuish 0. grisescens from the allied insects occur- ring in the Seychelles, whence Fairmaire's type was obtained.
