The arch will be covered partly with glass, and partly with timber framework, in several divisions of width, moves forward upon wheels as the work goes on, serving to aid the construction of one iron arch after chief engineer is Mr. W. H. Barlow; and the assistant engineers are Mr. Campion (resident engineer) and Mr. W. M. Grier. The contractors for the earthworks and masonry, including the tunnel, are Messrs. Waring Brothers; the contractors for the ironwork are the Butterley Company'. From "Illustrated London News", 1868.
