As the anniversary day fell on the 19thof January, in the midst of the most inclement season of theyear, and as it was deemed desirable to have as many of thenatives and former citizens, who had strayed away from theold homestead, present as possible, it was determined to de-fer taking any steps towards the proposed celebration, tillthe return of warm weather. In the following May the subject was again proposed, andwas suggested to many of the citizens and met their cordialapprobation. On the Sabbath of May 27th, Rev. Mr. Bart-ley, according to request, alluded to the subject and gavenotice to all who felt disposed, to meet at the Center SchoolHouse on the Monday evening following. Agreeably to this notice, sev
