Also, the act passed in the same session for thebetter providing suitable quarters for officers and sol-diers in his Majestys service in North-America. < Also, that the keeping a standing army in seve-ral of these Colonies, in time of peace, without theconsent of the Legislature of that Colony in whichsuch army is kept, is against law.* Resolved, That this Congress do approve theabove declaration of American Rights. Ordered, That the Association formed by thelate Continental Congress, be taken into 27 THE ASSOCIATION. * We his Majestys most loyal subjects, the dele-gates of the several Colonies of New-Hampshire,Massachusetts-Bay, Rhode-Island, Connecticut, New-York, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, the three Lov/erCounties of Newcastle, Kent, and Sussex on Dela-ware, Maryland, Virginia, North-Carolina, and South-Carolina, deputed to represent them, in a Continen-tal Congress, held in the city of Philadelphia, on thefifth day of September, 1774, avowing our allegianceto his Majesty, our affection and regard for our fel-low-subjects in Great Britain and elsewhere, aifect-ed with the deepest anxiety, and most alarming ap-prehensions at those grievances and distresses, withwhich his Majestys American subjects are oppress-ed, and having taken under our most serious delibe-ration, the state of the whole continent, find that thepresent unhappy situation of our affairs, is occasion-ed
