Thewestmost dial in the village is on ahouse which belonged to one Petti-crew, a mason; and the next dial,soinsr eastwards, is likewise on amasons house. Fig. 1478 shows theposition of the latter on the cornerof the house, as well as an enlargedsketch of the dial, which is a circular SUNDIALS — 365 SUNDIALS one inscribed on a square stone. In the upper cornersthere is a representation of the sun and moon, with theinitials of John Howison, and his wife, Agnes Wood,with the date 1729.
