Antonio Scarpa (1752-1832), Italian anatomist. Scarpa published a number of important anatomical works on the inner ear, the olfactory organs, the nerves of the heart, and diseases of the eye. After his death Scarpa's head was removed and displayed in the Institute of Anatomy at the University of Pavia, where he was professor. It is still on display in the University's museum.
