Trachoma eye infection treatment. ÂChild Âwith Âa trachoma eye infection about to undergo surgery (scalpel blade at lower left).  ÂTrachoma Âis Âan infection with Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria. The infection is at an advanced stage,  Âcausing Âthe eyelid Âto turn inwards on itself, Âcausing severe pain. Blindness can result if the condition is not treated.  The Âaffected Âpart Âof Âthe Âeyelid is surgically removed. ÂNormal sight can be Ârestored if  the  condition  is  caught Âearly Âenough. Photographed in Kenya as part of work Âby Âthe ÂUK charity ÂMEAK Â(Medical Âand ÂEducational ÂAid Âto Kenya).
