June 25, 2018 - Orlando, Florida, United States - A closeup view is seen of the small camera that Customs and Border Protection Officers utilize at Orlando International Airport, Orlando, Florida, to verify the identity of arriving international travelers. After the officer takes a photograph of the traveler, biometric facial recognition technology matches the photo with a gallery of historical passport and other photos of the traveler maintained by the government. The new technology, which is more efficient than the passport and fingerprint scans of the past, can verify a passenger's identity in less than two seconds with 99 percent accuracy. While the technology is used on a smaller scale at six other airports, Orlando International Airport went live with the system on May 4, 2018 and is the first airport to fully use biometric facial recognition technology for both arriving and departing international travelers.
