Tetrastoon (τετράστῳον, 'four arcades') is a historical courtyard enclosed by four porticoes (a structure consisting of four pillars).

Tetrastoon (τετράστῳον, 'four arcades') is a rarely used archaic term for a historical courtyard enclosed by four porticoes (a structure consisting of a roof supported by columns at regular intervals, typically attached as a porch to a building). The peristyle in a Greek temple is a peristasis. In the Christian ecclesiastical architecture that developed from the Roman basilica, a courtyard peristyle and its garden came to be known as a cloister.
