Dawn spacecraft being launched on 27 September 2007, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, USA. The spacecraft was launched with a Delta II rocket. The Dawn spacecraft is a robotic space probe from NASA. Its mission is to travel to the asteroid belt (between Mars and Jupiter) and study the minor planet Ceres and the asteroid Vesta, the two largest bodies in the asteroid belt. The two bodies will be studied to answer questions about their composition and formation, and the early history of the solar system. Dawn arrived at Vesta in October 2011, and is scheduled to arrive at Ceres in March 2015.
