Col. Percy A. Guthrie, July 1917. Colonel Percy Albert Guthrie (1884-1948) on the steps of the 71st Regiment Armory, Park Avenue (between East 33rd and East 34th streets), New York City. Guthrie was the leader of the 236th Canadian Infantry (the Maclean Highlanders) who were in the United States in July of 1917 for "British Recruiting Week" which encouraged enlistment in World War I.
