The pupils study the preparation and quahties of claysand colored bodies, with especial reference to the produc-tion of artistic forms, and decoration in relief or intaglio;the construction of pottery, either built-up or turned; andthe execution and firing of the finished work from theiroriginal designs, for garden vases, tiles, jardineres, deco-rative tablets, etc. For the use of this department, a special building hasbeen constructed, with complete equipment, including apractical kiln. The large collections of the Museum are studied inrelation to the development of pottery in different periods POTTERY DESIGNED AND EXECUTED BY PUPILS OF THE SCHOOI,, 34 Class in Wood-work and Carving Charles B. Dunn, Instructor in Charge. In session:—Daily, except Tuesdays, from 9 to 12A. M., and 1 to 4 1. and Frida}- evenings, to oclock. Charles Thomas Scott, Instructor in Design. The pupils in this class study the selection, use and careof tools; the character and grain of woods, and of the con-struction of mouldings, involving various cuts; the design-ing, execution and construction of original furniture, and thecarving of the enrichments.
