This is doneto provide room for the insulation which is built behind thecolumns and made continuous from the cellar to the interior of the building is, therefore, entirely sur-rounded by the insulation and there is no contact betweenthe walls and the floor construction except the 1-inchanchor bolts, which tie the structural parts together. Corkboard of the thickness shown in the section wasused as insulating material and was put up with cementmortar in the cold storage rooms and with hot asphalt inthe freezers. The insulation has given very satisfactoryresults during the two years in which the building has beenin operation.
