For some years Judge Harlan wasChief Judge of the Supreme Benchof Baltimore City, but in 1914 he re-signed this position to become generalcounsel for the Fidelity Trust Com-pany of Department of Lax^C y^ HIC Ceneral Asseiubly of Maryland, in 1812, authorized the College ofy_^ Medicine of Maryland, founded in 1807, to constitute, appoint and annex^^ to itself three other colleges or faculties, viz: The Faculty of Divinity, the^^^ Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of the Arts and Sciences, and declaredthat the four colleges or faculties thus united should be constituted an universityby the name and under the title of the Lniversity of Maryland. In 1869 the Law School was recognized and its work greatly , in 1911, the Baltimore Law School was emerged with the LTniversity ofMaryland. On July 1st, 1920, Maryland State College, at College Park, andthe University of }ilaryland in Baltimore, were amalgamated under the nameof the University of Maryland.
