Vaisakhi celebrates the birth of the Khalsa or Sikh Community in 1699. It is a time of great celebration with processions from the gurdwara or Sikh temple out into the community, singing, dancing and the purifying of the Sikh flag [Nishan Sahib] with yogurt.
