Our attention was first directed to this new Squash in France, the past summer, where we were ver>' favorably impressed with its appearance and growth. The seed was brought to France by a traveler from Hungary-, where, however, it is evidently not common, as we did not see it. It has been called Olive Squash, as the shape and color of the fruit exactly resemble an olive. It belongs to the Cu- curbita Maxima family, with the split foot. The fruit is a little longer and the skin smoother than the Hubbard, while the quahty of flesh is better. The squashes weigh 5 to 10 pounds each, skin very smooth and extremely thin. The flesh is ver>' thick, of a rich golden yellow color, firm, mealy, very sweet, and of remarkably good qualit>\ As a winter squash it is bound to occupy a front rank. We are sure all our friends who like squashes will thank us for in- troducing the Olive Squash.
