James Hogg, The Ettrick Shepherd (1770-1835) Scottish shepherd, poet and writer. His most important prose work is a novel "The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner", from "A Biographical Dictionary of Eminent Scotsmen" by Thomas Thomson (1870).
