On account of its earliness itis not much affected by the usual mid-Bummer and autumn droughts, whilein keeping qualities It is illustration does not in any wayexaggerate its smooth and handsomeappearance. It produces an unus-ually large proportion of merchant-able tubers. The potatoes grow closelyin the hill, and are of large and nearlyuniform size. On our trial grounds atNewfield, New Jersey, we made acomparative test of Maules EailyThoroughbred with a potato in favor inour neighborhood, the result being 45to 15 in favor of the former, or at the rateof 240 bushels an acre for Early Thor-oughbred Potato.
