Also, a fine two-story brick building inside the walls, whicli is used foroffices and night-guard, and containing vaults for tho l)ooks and papersof the institution and valuables left by prisoners. This building occupiesthe place of a wooden shanty formerly used for the same purpose, but en-tirely Avorthless. A now and substantial prison building has also been erected, in whichis contained the hospital, shoemakers, tailor shops, and lodgings for theaccommodation of tho milder class of prisoners; also, colls in the base-ment, for tho most desperate class, and capable of accommodating onehundred and twenty-four prisoners. On the twenty-sixth day of Jul}, 1858, a suit was brought for a forcibleentry and detainer against the State Prison Directors, by the sub-lessee,in
