In the Temple at Uppsala, an ancient Norse religious site in Sweden, housed statues of Thor, Wotan, and Frey.
The illustration, which dates to 1905, shows the Temple at Uppsala, which was an ancient Norse religious site in Sweden. It was said the roof was covered with gold and that a golden chain surrounded the temple. It housed statues of three gods: Thor (chief god and in the middle in illustration), Wotan (god of war - at left in illustration), and Frey (god of peace and pleasure - at right in illustration). Uppsala is today the fourth largest city in Sweden.
