Early morning light on Ait Ben-Haddou (also transcribed as Ait Benhaddou). This image taken shortly after sunrise. Ait Ben-Haddou is a so called Ksar (fortified village) in the southeast of Morocco. It lies at a small hill at the foot of the High Atlas mountain range. A caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech used to pass this village at the Ounila River. The old town area consists of Kasbahs, fortified houses built from adobe. Ait Ben-Haddou with its earthen architecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Several films like 'Sodom And Gomorrah', 'Gladiator' and 'Prince of Persia' have been shot here.
