Tellina lutea and Spisula polynyma, although not frequently taken or collected quantitatively with the gear used, are included because of their potential commercial value; they were commonly taken by hydraulic clam dredge (Hughes and Bourne, Chapters?, this volume; Feder et al. 1978a). All calculations and distribution maps for the eight bivalve species are based on 1975 infaunal collections (Feder et al. 1977, Feder et al. 1980, Haflinger 1978). A compilation of density and biomass data for all other species of pelecypods collected by van Veen grab and pipe dredge in the study is also pre- sented. Density and biomass figures for all species are available at the National Oceanographic Data Center. The percentage of the total number and biomass of each of the eight species of clams collected by grab is calculated relative to (1) sediment size (phi, 0), (2) sorting, and (3) depth range.
