The Zoroastrian Towers of Silence in Yazd, Iran, are no longer used and burial ceremonies take place at the nearby cemetery.

The traditional Zoroastrian practice of disposing of their dead by leaving the corpses in uncovered Towers of Silence was discontinued in Iran in the 1960s. The modern Zoroastrian cemetery, where the funeral featured here is taking place, is located next to the Towers of Silence in Yazd.
