The quality is improved by leaving them in ground over winter for spring use. Store enough in pits or cellars in the fall for winter needs. One ounce will sow 200 feet of drill. 608 Large Sugar or Hollow Crown. This is the best and most productive variety and is largely grown both in the home garden and for market. The roots, which are creamy white, grow 10 or 12 inches long. They are smooth, tender, sweet, and of excellent flavor. Pkt. 10c; oz. 20c; I lb. 45c; lb. $ 610 Student or Guernsey. Very similar to the above but some- what shorter. A good half-long variety with smooth white roots.
