Fort Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is a reconstruction of the eighteenth, nineteenth and early 20th century British fort and town that became Edmonton, capitol of the Province of Alberta. The original site was close to where the present capitol building is located,. Fort Edmonton recreates the activities of the nineteenth century fort which started as a fur trading post which expanded over time to become a trading center and the focal point of Canadian western settlement. This image shows a settlers garden used to provide fresh food for the family and inhabitants.
