Air Force Staff Sgt. Nicholas Tafanelli, 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection, inspects an emergency supply water tank at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, August 7, 2022. Thankful for the opportunities and mentorship he has received throughout his career, Tafanelli makes it his personal mission to pass on the knowledge to others. Tafanelli was recently recognized at the United Service Organizations Service Member of the Year award for responding to 318 emergencies, including 61 fires and 128 motor vehicle accidents as a firefighter in Topeka, Kansas.
