Niagara Falls, situated in New York, United States, is one of the world's most renowned natural wonders. This formidable waterfall, which lies on the Niagara River along the international border between the United States and Canada, is known for its awe-inspiring beauty and immense hydroelectric power. The falls consist of three separate waterfalls: the American Falls and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls on the side, and the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side. Collectively, these waterfalls have the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America. The falls drop more than 50 meters into the Niagara Gorge below, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that attracts millions of tourists each year. The area surrounding the falls, known as the Niagara Falls State Park, is the oldest state park in the United States. It was established as the Niagara Reservation in 1885. Key attractions within the park include the Maid of the Mist boat tour, Cave of the Winds, Goat Island, and the Niagara Falls Observation Tower. In addition to its status as a major tourist attraction, Niagara Falls also plays a significant role in generating hydroelectric power. The Niagara Power Project, built in 1961, harnesses the energy of the falls to provide electricity for much of the surrounding region.
