The shij)ping of cut flowers from San Francisco has become a large industry. Frisco flowers go up and down the coast from Los Angeles, or even San Diego, to Portland and all the cities of the north. They go east for many hundreds of miles and violets go regularly as far as Omaha and Kansas City. So large has the business of shipping violets become that the Wells- Fargo Express Co, recently undertook to introduce them in the east. Mrs. E. E. Darbee, who is said to be the pioneer in the business, supplied stock which the express company carried to all the larger eastern cities. It is said that the violets were salable when they reached New York city, and that they actually were sold by commission men and satisfactory returns made to the shipper, but thus far the business has not extended beyond the Missouri as a p
