Henkel arrested Zelaya on a charge of murder. General Jose Santos Zelaya roused from sleep and arrested in the middle of the night in New York City by U. S. Marshall Henkel on a charge of murder. He was incarcerated in The Tombs jail, pursuant to an extradition treaty with the government of Nicaragua. Zelaya had been tried and convicted in absentia of murder, by the regime of his successors in Nicaragua.
