A Marine waits to roll out in one of four Light Armored Vehicle Air Defense (LAV AD) amphibious vehicles in front of the Thunderdome at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Twenty-one Marines from the LAV AD unit at Camp Pendleton, California, are here to participate in NORTHERN EDGE 2001. The Marines will provide air defense for command and control and radar sites on Eielson's ranges during the two-week multi-service exercise.
