= Golden Domes with Crosses of Assumption Cathedral Against the Blue Sky = View from observation platform near St. Demetrius Cathedral on the shining gilded domes of Dormition (Assumption) Cathedral again the blue sky in summer. The helmet-shaped cupolas topped with Byzantine-style crosses. In Medieval times the helmet reminds Christians that they are in Christ, and the Apostle Paul: “Put on all the weapons of God,” “take the helmet of salvation”. The church was built in 1158-1161 dominating the ancient Russian city of Vladimir by Grand Prince Andrey Bogolubsky. Originally, it was one dome church, but it got new limestone walls and new 4 corner domes dedicated to four apostles when it was rebuilt after a fire in 1185-1189 by son of Andrey Bolyubsky, Vsevolod the Big Nest.
