Anti-Vietnam War Demonstrators, London, 17 March 1968.


1968 was a year of protest, with two large anti-Vietnam War demonstrations, and many others, protesting against such things as the Greek military junta, Ian Smith's declaration of Independence in Rhodesia, Porton Down. There were also many student protests in this year, particularly in France. On March 17 1968 an estimated 10,000 demonstrated against American action in Vietnam and British support for the United States. The last American troops left Vietnam on 29 March 1973.
