Marks : I lost my leg below the knee from gunshot wound received in the late soon as my stump healed, the United States Government presented me with one of s legs with an ankle joint. I wore it for a short time, and thought I liked it, but when I had one of your rubber feet applied to it I at once discov-ered that I had bettered my condition, and that the ankle joint in an artificialleg was as useless as wings on a pig. I have worn your rubber foot now. No. 288. about twenty years, am a machinist, and work at the lathe, and forge ten hoursa day as steadily as the days come and go. For ten years I worked on a footlathe, doing the treading with my rubber foot. Sundays I take my family out for a walk, and frequently jaunt about all have been so thoroughly restored by your patent that really I cannot see orfeel that I am different to persons in possession of their natural limbs.
