Previously known as 'Welsh Slate Museum' The Museum is housed in the Victorian workshops complex built 1870 by Dinorwic Quarries Company - some say the design of workshops and yards is based on a British fort in India, others the ‘model’ farms & stockyards of country estates. General view over the complex including the Lake Railway station on left, car park centre, lagoons and water sports centre in foreground, Slate tips beyond and Llanberis Pass in distance. It is within the Padarn Country Park Part of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales who claim it is The museum is "an anchor point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage" Open all year round.
