Naqsh-e Rostam is an ancient necropolis in the Marvdasht valley containing tombs of the Achaemenid kings carved into the face of a fawn-colored limestone cliff in the shape of Persian crosses. Perhaps the most famous tomb is that of Darius I (522-486 BC) on top of the Sassasnid relief of Bahram II.
