Many smallerfigures and animals enliven the scene. The Madonna, who is seenin profile towards the spectators right, is kneeling with hands clasped,and behind her is St. Joseph seated. The Infant Christ lies on herrobe. His head resting on a cushion. The two donors, probablyhusband and wife, kneel together to the right, richly dressed in theVenetian costume of the period.
