Sunny oblique view, to glass skyscraper, steps rising to door with information plaques, Eastern Annex, Nozyk Synagogue, Warsaw

An English language information plaque, at the Nozyk Synagogue, 6 Twarda Street, Warsaw, reads: 'This synagogue was built with the donation of Zalman and Rivka Nozyk and opened in 1902. Many of the great cantors prayed here, including Abraham Dawidowicz. During the Shoah the Nazis used the synagogue as a warehouse, which resulted in the building being saved from destruction. After the war, the surviving Jews returned to pray here once again. The synagogue was restored and re-opened in 1983. Today, it is the main synagogue of Warsaw's Jewish Community.' On re-opening in 1983, an annex was built at the eastern end of the synagogue. The Eastern Annex, seen here, is currently the seat of the Union of Jewish Communities in the Republic of Poland and the Jewish Community of Warsaw.
