Among its features will be aboiler built of i-inch boiler steel, and cyl-inders whose dimensions will be 12 by32 inches. It will have no pops, as theywill not be required. No fireman livingwould be able to build a fire that wouldcreate enough steam to burst the boilerof this mogul. The engine will have tendrivers, and it is estimated that it will beable to haul a third larger load than anyengine the Santa Fe now has. Those 12 by 32-inch cylinders wouldmake good field mortars for siege pur-poses, and the popless boilers will alsobe a curiosity. Perhaps no fireman canbuild a fire that would burst them, but ifthe reporter wants a lightning trip intothe next world, he had better sit on oneof these boilers and try ELECTRIC MINE tool room, so as to be accessible from allsides. The tubes are spaced about 15inches apart each way, and are connectedtogether by flat iron 4 ^ H inch, at inter-vals of, say, 6 inches, by U-bolts encirclingthe tubes and passing through the these flat bars rest cast-iron pans ortrays, about J4 inch deep, flanged on allsides, and wide enough to just fill in be-tween the tubes. It is seen that this ideamay be started successfully with four col-umns and one tray, or it may be amplifieduntil the room is filled, if need be. byerecting more columns and buildine on asrequired. ■ii .Si ^A Reporters Locomotive. .•\ reporter on the Topeka Daily Cafitalis responsible for the following: Material has been ordered by theSanta Fe for the largest locomotive everbuilt.
