During the early years of his residence there his cousin,Joseph Sanborn, cleared and lived on the farm now owned by theShakers in Canterbury. Two nephews, Mathew Neally and Jonathan Sanborn, came to 1792 and bought land, as the records say, Nov. 16, 18 acres ofLot No. 35. In July he sold to Samuel R. Sanborn, physician, a partof original Lot No. 51, consistfng of 55 acres with buildings thereon,excepting the schoolhouse and a two-rod highway, which, if the townshall use as a public road, he shall have 55 rods from said lots were laid out to the original right of William Smith Randall.
