Huelsen of the University of Illinois. Ears diam- eter. Well adapted to the Midwest and especially for the needs of canners. Notable for its high percentage cut-off. COUNTRY GENTLEMAN HYBRID (111.) 5 x 10 (w) iy2 iy2 98 Also originated by Prof. Huelsen and admirably adapted to Midwestern conditions. Ears 2" diameter. A prolific variety, giving high yields except in extreme drought when it is easily outclassed by Hybrid 8x6. â GOLDEN CROSS BANTAM (y) 6 8 85 Originally developed by Glenn M. Smith and introduced jointly by the U. S. Department of Agriculture and Purdue University. Extremely uniform in plant and ear characteristics and in maturity. Highly resistant to Stewart's disease.
